LAMINATED TIMBERS
STRENGTH AND SUSTAINABILITY BENEFITS OF GLUE LAMINATED TIMBERS FROM AMERICAN TIMBER AND STEEL
We offer Glue Laminated Timbers that provide a stronger alternative to solid, sawn timbers. Laminated Timbers are made by gluing together layers of veneers or lumber that is typically sourced from smaller, farm grown trees. Laminated timbers have a high strength-to-weight ratio and offer the added benefit of being a renewable and sustainable engineered wood product.
Laminated Veneer Lumber
Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) consists of layers of veneer glued together like plywood designed for interior header beams and scaffold plank type applications. Our LVLs are available in thicknesses of 1 ¾-inch to 3 ½-inches; widths from 7 ½-inches to 24-inches; and lengths up to 60 feet.
LVLs are designed for interior use only and therefore are not treated.
Glulams
Glulams are pieces of lumber which are glued together to make a larger timber. Our glulams are available in thicknesses of 3 ⅛-inches to 8 ¾-inches; widths of 8 ⅞-inches to 28 ⅞-inches; and lengths that are nearly unlimited.
Glulams can be treated with CCA for exterior applications or left untreated for interior use. They are generally used as support beams and columns.
