Our Story

American Timber and Steel began in 1983, treating and supplying Wood Guardrail Posts for one lone customer. We have grown tremendously over the years from that single customer to becoming one of the largest and most diversified specialty wood product manufacturers in North America.

The Journey To Timber Specialists

Our journey began when Jeff Bleile founded Midwest Wood Treating (MWT) in Norwalk, Ohio, in 1983, responding to a market need for wood-treated support posts for highway guardrails. And by 1989, MWT’s rapid growth earned it recognition as the 99th fastest growing company by Inc. Magazine.

In 2007, MWT became American Timber and Steel.

Over the years, American Timber and Steel has expanded its product lines, industry reach, and operational footprint. Today, our company includes 130 employees working across facilities in Norwalk, Ohio; Nacogdoches, Texas; and Woden, Texas.
